Weekend with family November 19, 2007

This weekend is like the rest of weekends – spent with family.

On Saturday, I woke up late and had branch at around 11.30am. Then we went to City Centre to window shopping and to find something for Kyle’s birthday later this evening. From 99p-TJ Hughes-Yafai Store. At the end we bought something at TJ Hughes. Went back to our home to wrap the present – Hazeeq was so excited about wrapping it in Christmas theme. He even wrote something nice as birthday wishes on the wrapper(yes, we forgot to buy a card). Around 3.30pm, we went to Jungle Mania where the Kyle’s birthday party was held. Hazeeq showed Kyle the present he bought. We left him there and promised to come back around 6.15pm. Me and Mizee went to Meadowhall Shopping Center – one of the largest shopping mall in UK (or is it the largest?). The idea is to aim for some catchy items for the next Boxing Day (hehehe). On the Boxing Day I have planned to conquer the Meadowhall. As soon as Mizee got home (around 6.00am), we will go to Meadowhall and shop for some things. Hey, I’m a shopper with aim, alright That is what I intend to be and the window shopping thing we’ve done today is one of the preparation, k? (hehe). Well, for those who doesn’t have any idea about Boxing Day, it will fall on 26th Dec every year where massive bargains will be offered to clear items for that year. People used to queue outside the shopping mall as early as 4am and the shops will open earlier than usual around 7am. So, I’m not that hype.

On Sunday, I cooked Ayam Masak Merah and Nasi Pilau (a bit like Briyani actually, Pakistani’s dish). Took about 3 hours to cook (yes, I’m a lousy cook) – but looks delicious, isn’t it? All PMPMS AJK have to cook about 2kgs Pilau Rice and 2-3 whole chickens. Add up them together, we will have enough food for everyone for tonight’s ceremony. There were a ceramah agama given by ustaz from London, a Malaysian plus some programme to introduce new Malaysian families to the rest of community here. Anyway, only Mizee + Hazeeq went there. I was not going coz afraid it might be too late to arrive home. I need the energy for the next day. So.. as what I promised to myself – won’t do anything to jeopardize my study here, eh?

Huargh..ha.. ha.. I read this article today as part of my quest to upgrade my knowledge in Information Studies field. Michael Lynch lab(the research lab that I’m working now) have this kind of practice where they would circulate subscribed mags and journals to research staff, hoping they will be read and benefits the researchers in some ways. Who is the writer? I didn’t bother to know him, no one had introduced him to me anyway. But I might have to know him soon – he’s funny and hillarious. He made me smile today.. ‘Wouldn’t it be great to stamp our thoughts with an expiry date and have a little pinger go off when it’s time to revisit? Then we’d be able to junk or update them, instead of having them fossilise or turn into prejudice.’

Anyway, his article reminds me that it’s OK to fossilise some of things happened in our life. And thus, I would delete names that I wouldn’t want to see again in this blog – and still, as time goes by, I might add up the same names again in the future.. we’ll see (hope not!)

Ya tuhan.. I’m so sarcastic these days, am I?

Time to get professional now.. David(the writer) suggested trying Netvibes as digital life manager, a tool to gather information feed, e-mail tip-offs and searches. Recently I’m using iGoogle (not so sophisticated but cute enough) to gather Google e-mails and few useful gadgets (like beauty tips of the day, horoscopes, world clocks, currency converter, countdown timer, live weather etc).

Previously I have mentioned about referring to some of popular blogs for recent techie updates (and also some cute personal blogs-I do admire one blogger, secretly) but I haven’t been there for ages, honestly(I feel guilty now). I might need to use Netvibes to gather the RSS feed so that I don’t look so stupid and feel so ashame of myself

Ohh.. while writing this entry, I did checked out the website : http://www.netvibes.com/. It looks awesome! I might try it soon. Hope I won’t be spending too much time on those

Sejukkkk.. November 12, 2007

Pehh.. sejuk giler pagi ni kat Sheffield.  Suhu sampai 5 darjah Celcius.   Kena pakai long john +  knitwear + jumper lak before pakai long coat kat luar. Autumn ni lebih sejuk dari winter sebab angin kuat.  This week sampai I yang bertdung ni kena pakai neck wrap utk tutup muka/pipi yg sejuk.

Yesterday(Sunday) ada jalan-jalan sat kat TK Maxx.  I ada wishlist utk christmas ni(jgn tak caya).  Nak pergi memborong masa Boxing Day :

1.  Knitwear – nak beli banyak2x
2.  Duvet cover set (double)
3.  Handbag
4.  Long coat for winter
5.  Jeans

Tapi seperti biasa.. org yg cerewet cam I ni biasanya akan jumpa mende lain lak yg dibeli.  Yang paling penting sekali ialah nombor 1 & 2 tu sebab dok mengulang baju yg sama je

Hala Tuju Sekolah Melayu Sheffield November 11, 2007

Pukul 4 pagi kat Sheffield – tak boleh nak lelapkan mata. Banyak sangat pikir sampai tak lena tido. Mengalahkan Guru Besar Sekolah Melayu Sheffield(SMS) la pulak.

Sekarang tengah hangat isu mengapa SMS makin kurang dapat sambutan. Zaman kegemilangannya dulu sampai Shafie Afdal datang rasmikan dan hulurkan sumbangan dari kerajaan Malaysia. Tapi disebabkan dah makin sedikit bilangan pelajar, grant pun segan nak minta.

Kenapa ek? Adakah masyarakat pelajar Malaysia sekarang makin busy study dan tak de masa nak hantar anak ke SMS lagi, tak seperti senior-senior dulu. Atau dah makin ramai di City Centre yang jauh dari Darnall tempat SMS diadakan? Tapi majoriti yang tinggal di kawasan sekitar pun tak hantar. Takkanlah sebab bayaran 2 pound sebulan tu?.. Sebab sikit sangat pun.

Ni pandangan peribadi I sebagai salah seorang ibu la.. tak pikir langsung samada cadangan ni praktikal ataupun tidak – tapi rasanya kemungkinan nak diambil kira tu sangatlah tipis. I tengah berpikir kalaulah ada satu tempat yang I boleh hantar my son after school dari kul 3pm – 6pm untuk ajar mengaji & BM.. tersangatlah bagusnya ;-D. I sanggup je bayar macam after school club nyer fees – like 6.50 pound for 2.5 hours. Macam kat MY lah pulak.. ada sekolah pagi & sekolah agama petang. Kalau dapat buat 2/3 hari seminggu pun cantik sangat. Tapi mesti kat area Citylah.. kalau luar kawasan jauh pulak nak hantarnya. Tapi agaknya kalau depa nak buat kat area Darnall.. maybe banyak jugak sambutan. I ni tumpang jealous campur gembira ajelah. Kalau Sabtu/Ahad tu I rasa ramailah orang yang keberatan sikit. Sebab hari minggu ni hari bersama keluarga. Nak berjalan nanti tak seronok pulak tak de anaknya. Especially yang rajin berjalan keluar Sheffield tu.. sekejap hantar.. kejap tak hantar.. terbantut lak pelajaran budak tu. Tapi ni pandangan peribadi I je. Maklumlah.. lain orang lain agendanya.

Sekarang ni GB tengah tunggu feedback dari sumer org. Kita tunggulah nanti apa hasilnya. Kesian lak I tengok.. GB tu sokmo tak tenang hidupnya.. dah la tetiap minggu kena buka sekolah. Apapun, hopefully akan dapat penyelesaiannya nanti.

A day off November 7, 2007

Today I will sit at home, at least till 6 pm, spending time with Hazeeq. Last nite, when I got into the car after finishing my work, I was shocked to see my son is crying. “Nape nangis nih?”, I said to him. “Ibu dah tak sayang kat Hazeeq.. Huhu..”, dia kata. Sedih betul tgk muka dia. Mmg sad giler sbb ia mmg jenis yg tak suka buat perangai sangat without any particular reason. “What made you saying that? Siapa kata Ibu tak sayang Hazeeq? Kenapa ni?”, I asked back, puzzelled. “Ibu tak nak cakap ngan Hazeeq kat phone. Ibu letak”, he replied. Ohh.. tadi masa I called my husband suruh dia amik I kat keje, I terus letak.. Rupanya dia nak cakap ngan I masa tu. Tak tahupun…

Akhirnya, sampai tidur, dia asyik menangis je. I tidurkan dia, pastu turun bawah sat nak makan utk posa esok. Lama sikit kat bawah, dia merengek suruh I naik temankan dia tido. Since I tengok dia sensitif lain macam je that nite, I pun layan la. Tak pelah posa esok tu. Ada lagi esok lusa nak posa enam .

Sepanjang malam tu tidur dia pun tak tenteram.. asyik terbangun je. Agaknya nak demam. So today, I tgk dia dah ok sikit tapi rasa tak sampai hati nak hantar dia pi sekolah. Badan pun cam dedar nak demam. Tak pelah.. biarlah I dok rumah, away from my research for just one day. Me and Hazeeq je kat rumah. Masa I dok bloggging nih, dia tgh tidur kat pangku I.. baru makan ubat demam. Kesianlah ada anak sorang ni… kesian kat both mommy and the son . Well, sitting at home ni ada lah jugak masa nak blogging both sheffieldmy and SL.

Semalam I terbaca article on Sheila Webber’s blog on Information Literacy. She’s one of our research staff in IS Dept here. The main blog is on Info Literacy, of course. And then she mentioned about her Second Life blog, which is her personal life blog. Haa.. life nowadays camtulah gamaknya – kita nyer personal life dah jadi second life. Yang primary life ialah kita nyer professional life. Talking about the personal life becoming the second life we’re heading to – I ada mende nak tambah sikit kat sini. Sebaiknya personal matter kita janganlah dijadikan agenda lain pulak dlm professional relationship kita. Ada manusia yang rasa nak jadi hero dengan memperjuangkan nasib manusia-manusia kecil(kononnya je kecil) sedangkan beliau tak tahu agenda manusia-manusia kecil tu ialah utk melaga-lagakan sesama manusia lain supaya ada pihak lain disisihkan seperti nasib mereka yang dah buat silap ngan manusia-manusia lain. Satu perkara yg perlu kita ingat – kalau bukan hal kita, jangan campur. Biar mereka selesaikan dengan cara masing-masing – jangan cuba nak take side sebab you can never tell the truth kalau tak dengar daripada kedua belah pihak. Hubungan sesama manusia ni pelbagai dimensi – bukan 2D/3D je – massive dimension! Sekali lagi I nak ingatkan – jangan sibuk nak masuk campur. Kalau depa nak fight, biar depa je fight sebab campur tangan pihak lain selalunya akan menyusahkan pihak-pihak lain. Hubungan yang baik jangan dikeruhkan tak tentu pasal. Kalau you tak de hal ngan I, jangan sengaja nak buat hal. Full Stop. Well, mintak mahaplah kalau ada yang terasa – I cuma nak melepaskan geram yang terbuku. Tapi, trust me.. I honestly appreciate the good relationship we had here. So, I really hope it will continue to grow professionally and with respect.

AJK PMPMS kali ni tersangatlah aktifnya – kengkadang rasa cam tak larat je. Kalau nak kata meeting tu – macam-macam citer kat dlm e-mail. Tapi yang bagusnya majoriti AJK pun aktif dan buat kerja sesama – so, tak penat sgt kalau ada yg uzur sebab nak viva atau anak sakit dsb. Oh ye.. this season the difference between MY-UK time is 8 hours till next March. Makin susahlah nak call MY – akan menyusahkan hidup depa lebih sikit. Bersyukur kita kat MY tak de hidup yg kompleks camni

Oklah kots – nak update sheffieldmy blog lak nih(after buat panggilan ke MY). Hazeeq masih lagi tidur – so nak curik masa sikit. Nanti bila dia dah bangun, nak mandikan dia and buat homework. See ya!
